Amarnath Yatra 2016: SMS service introduced to facilitate pilgrims

Srinagar, Jun 24 (UNI) A Short Message Service (SMS) service has been introduced to make pilgrims aware about the arduous nature of the 48-day-long yatra and the precautions they are required to take before and during their pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalaya.
An official spokesperson here today said that Governor N N Vohra, who is the chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), inaugurated the Shrine Board’s Bulk SMS which has been started for the first time to add a new facility to the pilgrimage of the annual Amarnath Yatra, commencing from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks on July 2, 2016.
“This Bulk SMS Service is aimed to enable the Yatris to become aware about the arduous nature of Yatra and the precautions they are required to take before and during their pilgrimage,” he said.
