Allahabad University: Sole candidate in student council elections back out

Prayagraj, Oct 19 (UNI) The lone candidate for the Student Council elections in the Allahabad University, LLM (second year) student Vagish Shukla on Saturday withdrew his name following threat calls.
Confirming the same, University's Chief Proctor Ram Sewak Dubey said since Shukla was persistently getting threat calls after his nomination, he withdrew his name.
The students at the University have been protesting against the constitution of the Student Council and have been demanding the restoration of the Student Union, since the past two months. During this time, the University administration announced the Student Council elections for October 21.
