All records have been broken as far as defection by MLAs in Goa is concerned: Gadkari

Panaji, May 16 (UNI) Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said that all records had been broken in the country as far as defection by MLAs was concerned in the country.
Speaking at an election rally in the city, he said,''Goa has broken all records in the country. Despite its cultured and intellectual population, Goa’s MLAs defect from parties so often here. It is probably influenced by the US. Marriages do not last in that country. They go here and there, like as if they are in a garden. Therefore to keep these people, who are constantly looking for greener pastures, in one place and run a government is difficult.”
Mr Gadkari also alleged that former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Goa chief Subhash Velingkar was contesting Panaji bye-election to split votes of Bharatiya Janata Party and help Congress win the elections.
''I will only say that it is unfortunate. Even though he has quit the party, I still respect him,” the senior BJP leader said.
