All anti-socials take shelter in BJP and perpetrating violence in Tripura: CPM

Agartala, May 27 (UNI) With the increasing spate of violence after announcement of election results the opposition CPI (M) accused the ruling BJP of encouraging communal tension in the minority and tribal-dominated areas of the state, which has created an adverse situation.

The CPI (M) leader and former Loksabha MP Jitendra Chaudhury alleged, “The BJP sheltered miscreants have identified the minority-dominated areas and relentlessly trying to spread communal tension in the name of religion. Such political culture was never seen in the state before this but the ruling party had imported it along with themselves”.

He alleged that internal bickering between IPFT and BJP has also taken a turn of ethnic tension in the tribal-dominated areas of the state. Minority dominated areas of Bishalgarh, Udaipur, Sonamura, Jirania and bordering areas of Agartala and few suburbs were under serious threat as inter-community tension.

All the anti-social elements have entered into BJP through local leaders by paying hefty amounts and those are now triggered large scale violence in various parts of the state, which went beyond control of BJP party and the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Chaudhury alleged adding, “Criminals could not become active during left front’s rule because the party in power never indulged them but after BJP came in power it has gone reverse.”

He also stated after BJP-IPFT came in power rural economy of Tripura broke down completely and people lost their income even from the rubber cultivation. Though top-level leaders of BJP had taken crores of rupees from the criminal and anti-social by recognizing them into the party, which in turn gave them an opportunity to run syndicate business and collecting forceful donation even from the small traders and poor paid government employees.

“The people who joined in BJP before and after they came in power with a hope of good income have now become frustrated. Instead, they are seeing the criminals became friends of BJP leaders and MLAs and the poor supporters who voted BJP has been running from pillar to posts for managing livelihood, which is now appeared to be the main reason of violence. The personal enmity and collection of money are the main reasons for such inhuman and uncivilized activities,” Chaudhury added.

He stated beside, opposition supporters, a large number of innocent BJP voters also became a victim of the violence perpetrated by the anti-socials taking the advantage of their proximity with BJP leaders and MLAs. So far three persons were killed in the last three days and all of them were from BJP and the accused also belonged to the ruling party.

One, Rabi Paul (60), he alleged, a CPI (M) activist who has played a key role during the election campaign and other party activities ‘was provoked’ by the local BJP supporters to commit suicide. As soon as the poll results were declared, the local BJP leaders demanded Rs 3 lakh from him as extortion and threatened of facing dire consequences otherwise.

Found no other way out, he committed suicide yesterday in Belonia; he claimed to add that about 60 polling agents of CPI (M) have been attacked out of which 50 are seriously injured, almost 20 party offices

CPIM and CITU have been ransacked or set on fire, altogether 209 houses were robbed partly or fully, 16 houses of Left supporters have been set on fire and a total of 36 shops have been robbed or set ablaze.
