Alipore Court says CBI can arrest fugitive cop Rajeev Kumar if he does not cooperate

Alipore Court says CBI can arrest fugitive cop Rajeev Kumar if he does not cooperate

Kolkata, Sep 19 (UNI) The Alipur court today opined that the CBI do not need arrest of warrant

to take former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar into custody, if the cop, now ADG CID, does not cooperate with the central investigating agency in Saradha chit fund scam.

After hearing the case from the advocates of Rajeev Kumar and CBI, the judge of Alipore Judges Sessions Court opined that the central investigating agency did not want any arrest of warrant order from this court since the CBI has directives from the Supreme Court as well from Calcutta High court that it can arrest the cop if he did not cooperate in the case.

The counsels of CBI and Rajeev Kumar had moved the Alipore court after a special court and district court of Barrackpore had said they have no jurisdiction in the case.

Meanwhile, the CBI today again summoned the illusive cop to appear before the CGO Complex at Salt Lake by 10 AM on Friday.

The CBI also raided various areas in the city, including IPS Officers mess in Alipore and a five-star hotel on EM Bypass, to locate the ADG CID.
