Alert keyman detects breakage on rly track, averts train accident

Vijayawada, Apr 26 (UNI) The timely action of a railway keyman averted a train accident by detecting breakage on railway track at Mandavalli railway station in Gudivada-Bhimavaram section and stopping the train in Vijayawada railway division on Friday.
Railway officials said that the keyman Briz Mohan Meena noticed breakage on the rail at around 0620 hrs.
He immediately informed the matter to Guru Krishna, SSE/P-Way/Kaikaluru and Sudharshan, Station Superintendent, Mandavalli Railway Station for necessary action. But, Train number 17479 Puri-Tirupati Express had already left Kaikaluru Railway Station and was inching close to the spot.
Meena acted spontaneously by exhibiting danger signal to the incoming 17479 Puri-Tirupati Express, averting a possible train mishap. The rail breakage was attended by SSE/P-Way/Engineering staff and the train movement was restored at 0650 hrs (within 30 minutes).
P Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, MVS Ramaraju, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager (Infrastructure), G Sumana, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations), K Suryanarayana, Sr DEN (Co-Ordination) and other branch officers appreciated Briz Mohan Meena for his sincere efforts and alertness on duty.
