New Delhi, Jun 24 (UNI) Superstar Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer action war drama 'Kesari' is all set to release in Japan on August 16.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Akshay shared the Japanese poster of the film and said,'Kesari, a film based on one of the bravest battles ever fought: 21 courageous soldiers against 10,000 invaders, is set to conquer Japan on 16th August, 2019! @ZeeStudios_ @ZeeStudiosInt @DharmaMovies @SinghAnurag79 @ParineetiChopra @iAmAzure #CapeOfGoodFilms'.

Directed by Anurag Singh, it was jointly produced by Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Sunir Khetarpal under the banners of Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, Azure Entertainment and Zee Studios.

The film stars Akshay Kumar with Parineeti Chopra, Mir Sarwar, Vansh Bhardwaj, Jaspreet Singh, Vivek Saini and Vikram Kochhar in supporting roles.

It follows the events leading to the Battle of Saragarhi, a battle between 21 soldiers of the 36th Sikhs of the British Indian Army and 6,000–10,000 Afridi and Orakzai Pashtun tribesmen in 1897.

The film was released in India on March 21.
