Akhilesh slams PM, UP CM in Jhansi; urges people to vote 'carefully'

Jhansi, Apr 26 (UNI) Launching a scathing attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said the effect of the tea had descended from people.
Addressing a rally in support of SP-BSP alliance candidate Shyam Sundar Singh from Jhansi-Lalitpur seat at the GIC ground here, Mr Akhilesh said that this election was for the people and the future of their country.
He said both the 'chowkidar' and the 'thokidar' had to be removed now. He appealed to people to be careful this time and vote for 'Samajwadis.'
'Now, even the 'elephant' (BSP party symbol) is standing with us, now we don't need to be afraid. The shower of votes has started. Now, it is the time of Jhansi people,' the SP leader added.
Enumerating his government's achievements, the former UP chief minister said that whenever Samajwadis came, some or the other scheme was launched for Bundelkhand, leading to development of the region and surrounding areas.
Stating that Bundelkhand has had a history of brave people, the former chief minister said that while he was coming here, he saw the flyover, which had been started by the Samajwadis. It had yet not been completed and whatever had been constructed, was during their tenure, Mr Yadav alleged.
'The Centre did not fulfill its responsibility. We had started a pension for the mothers and sisters and distributed laptops to students. BJP has done the work of stopping development,' he said.
Initiating a direct conversation with the people, the SP president asked whether the promises made by the PM had been kept.
Launching an all-out attack at Mr Adityanath, Mr Yadav said 'Nowadays, a 'baba' is the Chief Minister of UP. He had said that they will make Bundelkhand Expressway, ply metros. Where is the metro, I have come to take a ride in it. Where is the defence corridor?,' the SP president asked.
Alleging that BJP failed to close the slaughter houses, which it had promised to do before elections, Mr Yadav said there is a lot of difference between what BJP says and does.
Accusing the BJP of practicing a politics of 'divide and rule' on the lines of the British, Mr Yadav said that it was ruling the country by dividing the countrymen on the basis of various caste and religions.
The SP chief further said that the alliance was not one with 'milawat,' adding that the 'gathbandhan' will have positive results.
Even Mr Yogi had said that he will distribute laptops on the lines of SP, but is not doing so because he does not know how to operate one, he quipped.
Reiterating his earlier stand, Mr yadav said that it was up to the people whether they wanted a 'prachar mantri' or a 'pradhan mantri.'
