Lucknow, Oct 8(UNI) Samajwdi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, facing a tough time due to coming up of a parallel political body by his own uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav, has now turned up to woo the old friends of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav in order to solve their resentment.
Akhilesh Yadav, who had ignored some of the senior party leaders have now turned up to them, and on Sunday went to meet senior party leader and Rajya Sabha member Beni Prasad Verma at latter residence and stayed there for an hour.
A senior party leader close to Beni Prasad Verma told UNI here on Monday that though the meeting yield no such result but it was a good start by Akhilesh Yadav.
" The meeting was good and both the leaders had an one hour long chat. Both discussed about the prevailing political situation in the state and the country besides about the coming 2019 Lok Sabha polls," the leader said.
Beni Prasad Verma, is a prominent Kurmi leader in UP and had switched over to SP from Congress in 2016.
But as per the sources Mr Verma asked the SP president about the ways and means to counter Shivpal Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Secular Morcha and whether he was still ready to accommodate him in the party, Akhilesh Yadav did not speak a word on it.
However, during his talks Akhilesh seems confident of having an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party though the nitty-gritty were yet to be settled.
" Akhilesh disclosed before Mr Verma that he had a couple of round of talks with the BSP leadership and they have gone ahead in forging a pre-poll alliance in UP during 2019 Lok Sabha polls," the sources said.
The meeting seems to be an effort by Akhilesh Yadav to settle terms with senior party leaders, who had been ignored, after he took over the reign of the party on January 1,2017.
