New Delhi, Jul 19 (UNI) After Vijender Singh, former Commonwealth Games (CWG) gold medalist Akhil Kumar and 2006 CWG bronze medalist Jitender Kumar are all set to make their pro-boxing debut at the 'Battleground Asia' on August 5. It will be after a gap of nine years when 2008 Beijing Olympians Jitender, Akhil and Vijender will feature in the same event in the pro-boxing circuit. Also, the opponents of the Indian boxers have been announced and Akhil will take on Australian Ty Gilchrist in a four-round, Junior Welterweight (63Kg) contest. On the other hand, Jitender will face Thailand’s Thanet Likhitkamporn, who is comparatively new to the pro-boxing circuit, in the Lightweight (61Kg) four-round contest. Meanwhile, WBO Asia Pacific super middleweight champion Vijender, who has seven knockout wins since his pro-boxing debut, will take on WBO Oriental super middleweight champion Zulpikar Maimaitiali. Apart from the trio, Battleground Asia, scheduled to be held at NSCI, Mumbai, will also feature six other Indians in different categories namely- Neeraj Goyat (welterweight 66 kg), Kuldeep Dhanda (lightweight 61kg), Pardeep Karera (welterweight 66kg) and Dharmendar Grewal (cruiserweight 89kg).
