Akashjeet (5 for 18) bowls out Chandigarh for 69

Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) A deadly spell of bowling by Akashjeet (5 for 18) skittled out Chandigarh to 69 all out in 36.2 overs overs and in reply Punjab scored 106 for 4 in 56 overs on the first day of the Vijay Merchant Under-16 Cricket Tournament at the Mahajan Cricket Ground here on Wednesday.
Only Aryan Verma played a defiant knock of 34 which included five boundaries. Non of the other Chandigarh batsmen could could reach the double figure mark.
At close of play Punjab were 106 for 4 and Uday Saharan was batting on 39. Jaskirat Singh was batting on 11, Mayank Gupta (25) and Sanraj Singh (26) played good knocks before they were dismissed.
Brief scores: CHANDIGARH (Ist innings): 69 all out in 36.2 overs (Aaryan Verma 34, 5x4s, Akashjeet 5 for 18, Manroop 2 for 11, Uday Saharan 1 for 20, Emanjot 1 for 10).
PUNJAB (Ist innings): 106 got 4 in 56 overs (Uday Saharan 39 not out, Mayank Gupta 25, Sanraj Singh 26, Jaskirat Singh 11 not out, Prince 1 for 26, Neel 1 for 8, Paras 1 for 32, Kavya 1 for 12, Ivraj 1 for 6).
