Akali Dal IT cell chief detained from Amritsar cafe

Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) National president of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s IT Cell Nacchattar Singh Gill was taken into custody by Tarn Taran Police on Saturday evening after officers picked him up from a cafe in Amritsar’s Ranjit Avenue. Gill was seated with friends when the police team arrived and escorted him out of the premises.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the reason behind his detention. Police personnel also seized the cafe’s DVR, indicating that investigators are examining CCTV footage as part of their inquiry.
According to sources, Gill had reportedly received warnings from police during the Tarn Taran bypoll campaign. The operation to detain him is said to have been conducted under the supervision of a DSP currently posted in Goindwal Sahib.
