Mumbai, Jan 26 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday extended heartfelt greetings to the martyred heroes who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day.
In his official statement, Mr Pawar said, 'When our country became independent, became a republic, it was a difficult time. The country faced many challenges. But for the last 71 years, we have maintained, expanded and secured this republic, he said.
'Our democracy has survived while democracy in other parts of the world is being shaken, thanks to the people of the country and their faith in democracy.'
Mr Pawar saluted all the people of the country who have firm faith in the Indian democratic system and the Indian Constitution.
He also expressed his gratitude to the freedom fighters who fought for the freedom of the country, their families and the contribution of dignitaries in various fields who contributed to the development of the country.
Mr Pawar greeted the dignitaries from the political, social, cultural, industrial and economic sectors who have contributed to the formation of the country during the 71 years of the Republic of India.
