New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairman Ajay Tyagi's tenure has been extended for 18 months till February 2022, an official statement said.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, late on Wednesday, took the decision for extended Tyagi's term from September 1 to February 28, 2022.
In February 2020, Tyagi was given a six-month extension.
'The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension of term of appointment of Ajay Tyagi as Chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India for a further period of 18 months with effect from 1 September to 28 February, 2022 or until further orders, whichever is earlier,' a government notification said.
Tyagi was appointed as the SEBI chairman on February 10, 2017, replacing U K Sinha.
