Chandigarh, Nov 14 (UNI) The infighting in the Chautala family escalated on Wednesday after Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo and former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala reportedly expelled his son Ajay Singh Chautala from the party.
INLD Haryana unit president Ashok Arora during a press conference here today said that the decision to this effect was taken in the presence of Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala. Many senior party leaders and legislators were also present at the press conference.
Earlier, Lok Sabha MP Dushyant Chautala and his younger brother Digvijay Chautala, both sons of Ajay Chautala, were expelled from the party on November 2, following an inquiry that found them guilty of indiscipline.
However, both Dushyant and Digvijay had refused to accept their expulsion, stating that the national executive of the party had not met and the expulsion order had not been signed by INLD supremo Om Prakash.
The feud in the Chautala family widened in the last few days following the expulsion of Dushyant and Digvijay. While the INLD has called a meeting of the state executive as well as of MLAs and MPs here on November 17, Mr Ajay Chautala has also called a meeting at Jind on the same day and invited all sitting and former INLD MPs and MLAs and other office bearers to attend the meeting.
Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala are serving a 10-year sentence in a teachers' recruitment scam in the state at Tihar jail. Ajay Chautala is currently out on a two-week parole.
