AITC, BJP clash on OBC-related Bill in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) Opposition Trinamool Congress and the treasury benches, including Ministers, clashed on Wednesday during Lok Sabha discussion on The Constitution (123rd Amendment) Bill, 2017, to give constitutional status to the National Commission on Backward Classes (NCBC).
Proceedings, subsequently, were adjourned for the day.
Remarks by Trinamool Congress member Kalyan Banerjee that the Narendra Modi government was trying to push the new law "without consulting states" drew angry protest from the treasury benches.
From the ruling side Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, the Trinamool MP was making a baseless charge.
Talking to UNI, Mr Singh said, "My opposition to member's remarks was necessary as he was misleading the House".
