AITA tennis tourney: Kaavya Sawhney, Suryanshi Tanwar in semis

Chandigarh, Sep 19 (UNI) Top seed chart trainee Kaavya Sawhney advanced into semifinals in the girls under-18 singles of the CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament for boys and girls under-16 and 18 at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here on Wednesday.
Kaavya defeated Deepshika Sriram in one sided match 6-1, 6-2. Kaavya dominated throughout the match with her powerful ground stroke from the baseline and used variation of backhand slice and closed the match easily. Second seed Vanshika Choudhary defeated fifth seed Sanvi Ahluwalia 7-5, 6-2. Ritika Grewal and Ashpreet Kaur Bajwa also moved into semifinals.
In girls under-16 singles quarterfinals Suryanshi Tanwar of CLTA upset fourth seed Simran Pritam in straight set 6-2, 7-5. Top seed Vanshika Choudhary, Shreya Chaktraborty and Mehkhala Manna moved into singles semifinals.
