New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) The Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathy Raju has made it clear that the airlines cannot charge any additional amount for correction in the name of the same person, when the person brings this to the notice of the airline after booking the ticket.
In a tweet, Mr Raju said that as per Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) regulations, Airlines have to make the corrections in the name without charging any amount.
He said that the above is applicable for any error in the name of a passenger while booking a ticket. The correction has to be made without any additional charge.
It may be noted that airlines were charging hefty fee to make the corrections in the name. Many of them were simply refusing to make the correction forcing the passengers to cancel the ticket and to go for fresh booking. During the entire process passengers were losing huge money in cancelation of tickets or they had to make changes in their travel plan.
