AIPEF hits out at Centre's 'rush' to privatise power sector

Chandigarh, Jan 19 (UNI) The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) hit out at the Centre's 'rush' to privatise the power distribution and related transmission system by way of multiple supply franchisees and network franchisees for O&M of the leased network.
AIPEF spokesperson V K Gupta said that in the Power Minister conference, it was informed that the government has planned another bailout scheme 'ADITYA,' in the next budget, aimed at privatising the state-run power distribution companies (Discoms) with multiple supply franchisees, for power distribution in an area and a network franchise.
The Discoms would be eligible for funding from Power Finance Corporation against project milestones, if all the conditions have been met.
