AIBOC objects to Kalyan Jewellers Ad showing bank work force in bad taste ; demands apology

Chennai, Jul 18 (UNI) All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC), Tamil Nadu State Unit, on Wednesday expressed shock and took objection to a commercial advertisement aired in TV channels by Kalyan Jewellers
portraying bank work force in bad taste and demanded its immediate withdrawal and an apology.
In a statement here AIBOC State Secretary R Sekaran warned of legal action if the advertisement was not withdrawn immediately.
He said the AIBOC has 25,000 officers in Tamil Nadu and affiliated to AIBOC which represents 3,25,000 Officers in the entire country.
We are shocked with your advertisement being shown in different TV channels and social media in Tamil language featuring film actor Prabhu where in bank employees and Officers were shown as inattentive,
careless, negligent and unmindful of the mistakes etc.
When Bank employees and Officers were very sensitive in fulfilling the customer needs and more particularly on senior citizens requirements, the advertisement has portrayed a wrong image causing discomfort to the
entire work force of the banking industry, he said.
''In India people have lot of faith and trust on the banks and their confidence on the banks is more firm due to more earnest services extended by the workforce'', Mr Sekaran said.
Stating that all the Government programmes such as PMJDY, PM Mudra loan, Pension and Insurance schemes has been meticulously implemented by the banking workforce for the benefit of the general public, he said when such was the relationship between the customers and the banking workforce, the advertisement had caused lot of unrest among the bank employees and Officers.
He said the AIBOC has been receiving continuous calls and representation from Officers to go in for both legal and organizational course of agitational programmes to lodge its protest against the ill-conceived advertisement and launch further action till the advertisement was withdrawn and an apology is tendered to assuage the hurt feeling of the bank employees and Officers.
''We are certain that you will instantly withdraw the advertisement and will not force us to seek remedial measures from the court of law'', he said.
He also requested the jeweller to restrain from coming out with such advertisement depicting any section of people of the country in a bad light for promoting its own interest.
