Age should not be a limiting factor to adopt fitness in life: Milind Soman

New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Model and fitness enthusiast, Milind Soman on Wednesday ran 72 kms here, to celebrate the Independence Day and said age should not be a limiting factor especially for women and they should adopt fitness in their way of life.

The United sisters Foundation organised Independence Day Run in the traditional attire to promote the 6th edition of Bajaj Electricals ‘Pinkathon’ Delhi presented by Colors.

Over 100 fitness enthusiasts including men, women and children participated in the five kms run which started from Lodhi Gardens at 0630 hrs.

The run was flagged off by Milind Soman who ran a total distance of 72 kms to celebrate 72nd Independence Day and spread the message of health and fitness for all women.

“Age should not be a limiting factor. We want large number of people especially women to take up running and adopt fitness in their way of life,” Milind said.

Milind concluded the run at India Gate.

“I would like to wish fellow Indians on India’s 72nd Independence Day and urge people to take their health and fitness seriously. Running 72 kms is not just to celebrate our Independence Day but also to promote the message of exercising our freedom to live in a healthy way by making the right choices of spending 30 – 40 mins daily on self, clean eating, being active and challenging your physical and mental abilities to lead a fit life,” Milind, who is also the founder of ‘Pinkathon’ said.

The Independence Day run in ethnic wear was intended at empowering and encouraging women to participate by draping sarees or wearing salwar kameez, our rich and vibrant culture around them.

“We at #BajaElectricalsPinkathon strongly believe in inclusiveness of all and make sure that women can and should practice staying fit wearing whatever they are most comfortable in,” he said.

“The legacy and love of every Indian woman for sarees is undeniable. We want to change the mind-set of women. We want women to run in whatever they wear and the way they are dressed, be it sarees, salwar kameez or even the hijabs,” he said.

“Clothes should not become deterrent to women’s fitness. The idea is to inculcate the fitness habit in their comfort wear. This run emphasized the fact that a mere element such as dressing can stop no woman from striving towards fitness,” he added.

‘Pinkathon’ is a women's run to encourage and promote fitness and health among women and create awareness for Breast Cancer, Bone health, Thyroid disorder and other issues relating to women’s health.
