Agatha Sangma wins from South Tura

Agatha Sangma wins from South Tura

Shillong, Mar 3 (UNI) Former Cabinet Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) candidate, Agatha Sangma on Saturday won from the South Tura constituency, by defeating the BJP’s nominee BA Sangma by a margin of 1603 votes.

Ms Sangma, daughter of former LoK Sabha speaker P.A.Sangma, polled 6499 votes, while the BJP candidate got 4896 votes.

Grithalson N Arengh, candidate of the Congress party was placed at the third spot with 3597 votes.

She is one among the prominent leaders of the NPP which is led by Conrad Sangma, her brother.

In 2013 Assembly polls, an independent candidate won from this seat by a margin of 18 votes.
