AG says SC should live-stream only constitutional cases

AG says SC should live-stream only constitutional cases

New Delhi, July 23 (UNI) The Attorney General (AG), KK Venugopal, on Monday suggested to the Supreme Court that instead of live-streaming of all cases, the top court should consider and ensure that only constitutional cases are live-streamed.
One of the main petitioners, senior Supreme Court lawyer and noted legal expert, Indira Jaising, submitted to the apex court three-judge bench that the SC should ensure that nobody should get these live-streaming for any commercial purpose and should be live-streamed only once.
The AG also suggested that to minimise the rush in the court room, what it should do is install big screens in public places -- inside the court premises -- such as halls, canteens and other places, so as to make the courtroom less crowded.
He said the court number-1 should start the live-streaming of the constitutional cases.
The three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, fixed the matter for further hearing to 3rd of August.
