After death of 17 people, remaining portion of collapsed wall demolished

Coimbatore, Dec 5 (UNI) The revenue officials today demolished
the remaining portion of a compound wall which collapsed on
three houses due to heavy rain killing 17 people at Nadur near
Mettupalayam in this district.
The remaining portion of the nearly 20 feet high wall, was razed
to the ground amid tight security.
The district administration decided to demolish the remaining
portion of the compound wall after protests by various pro-Dalit
outfits, alleging that the owner had constructed the wall
deliberately to discriminate against the dalits who died in
the wall collapse.
