Afghanistan wants good relations with neighboring countries: acting PM

Kabul, May 29 (UNI) Afghanistan's acting Prime Minister Mawlawi Abdul Kabir has said that Kabul desires to have good relations with all the neighboring countries, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported.
Kabir made the remarks in a recent meeting with Pakistan charge d'affaires Obaidul Rehman Nizamani, noting that Afghanistan is seeking to have good ties based on mutual respect with all its neighbors.
He also stressed enhancing trade and economic ties between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Bakhtar report said.
For his part, the Pakistani embassy's charge d' affaires noted that Islamabad has always supported positive interaction with the Afghan caretaker government, demanding the release of Afghanistan's frozen assets and the increase of humanitarian aid for the people of Afghanistan, according to the report.
Matters pertaining to problems of Afghan refugees living in Pakistan and visa issuance for Afghans were among the issues discussed in the meeting, and Kabir asked the Pakistani side to resume visa issuance for Afghan nationals.
Pakistan's embassy to Afghanistan in Kabul came under attack in December 2022, for which the Daesh or hardliner Islamic State (IS) outfit had claimed responsibility. The attack had forced the embassy to remain closed for several months.
