Afellay returns to PSV after eight years

The Hague, Jun 18 (Xinhua) Ibrahim Afellay signed a one-year contract at PSV on Tuesday, marking his comeback to the Dutch soccer club after eight years abroad.
The now 33-year-old midfielder left PSV, with whom he won four Dutch league titles and one domestic Cup, in January 2011 for FC Barcelona. In Spain Afellay failed to become a regular starter and loan spells at Schalke 04 and Olympiacos Piraeus were not successful.
In 2015 Afellay signed for English side Stoke City. After a good first season in the Premier League, injuries halted his development. His last official match for Stoke was on December 30, 2017. Mainly due to injuries, he did not play afterwards.
