Advanced Extracorporeal Shock-Wave Lithotripsy System inaugurated at Jipmer

Puducherry, Oct 27 (UNI) An advanced Extracorporeal Shock-Wave Lithotripsy System (Dornier Delta III), a newly one installed in the department of Urology at Jipmer was inaugurated by Dr Ashok Shankar Rao Badhe, Medical Superintendent, in the presence of its Director Dr.Rakesh Aggarwal and others here on Monday.
According to a Jipmer release on Tuesday, keeping in mind the need to maintain social distance, most faculty members and officers joined the function in video conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Badhe said that this machine will provide a non-operative and relatively painless treatment option for patients with urinary stones. It involves breaking the stones, using high-energy shockwaves, into tiny pieces which are then passed in urine.
