Adityanath assures Manipur CM of speedy justice in youth's death

New Delhi, Sept 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured his party colleague and Manipur counterpart N Biren Singh that the state police will do everything possible at the earliest to ensure that "justice" is done to the case pertaining to the "mysterious missing and death" of a Manipuri youth earlier this month in Noida. According to sources in Manipur government, the assurance was given to Manipur Chief Minister here on Monday when Mr Singh raised the issue with Mr Adityanath on the sidelines of BJP's National Executive meeting. "Both the Chief Ministers also met later in the night," a source said. "Yogiji assured me that considerable progress has been made in the investigation," the Manipur Chief Minister said and maintained that Mr Adityanath was even ready to handover the case to some independent body or even set up a SIT. "It was a cordial meeting and I am satisfied," Mr Singh remarked. According to sources, three policemen had been suspended for failing to report "effectively and failing to discharge their police duties", the source said. The 22-year-old Manipuri youth reportedly went missing on September 8 after attending a musical concert in Noida and later his body was found by the Noida police. Following reports of alleged discrepancies in the death of the youth Pravish Chanam, the Manipur government has deputed a Additional Director General of Police, Manipur, Pramod Asthana to camp in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to make inquiries into the death. The Manipur Chief Minister had also come under attack once the North East Forum for International Solidarity urged Union Home Ministry to take a look at the case and also sought an investigation by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). They also urged the Manipur Chief Minister to intervene and ensure "justice for the deceased". Lately one tribal girl from Manipur also died in Delhi provoking protest. UNI DEVN SW 1731
