New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) Union Health Ministry on Wednesday said that there is adequate stock of Hydroxychloroquine in country and in near future, there would not be any shortage of this medicine.
Addressing the media, the Ministry’s Spokesperson Lav Agrawal said that India is a largest producer of this drug and its stocks has been monitored by the highest level.
He also said that this drug is prescribed by the registered medical doctors and also given to the COVID19 patients’ attendants on the basis of prophylaxis. This drug should not be taken without doctor’s prescription, he added.
Sharing details of the COVID 19 new cases in the country, Mr Agrwal said that in last 24 hours the total number of positive cases has increased to 5194 with 773 new cases. So far 149 patients have died and 402 have been cured.
The Health Ministry Spokesperson also said that the special care has been taken for COVID 19 positive cases and the Corona Virus infected pregnant women where the Ministry has issued a new guidelines for the safe process for their deliveries. Post delivery care guidelines have also been issued to look after the new born babies and All India Institute of Medical Sciences has also initiated a training module to train local health workers at district and Panchayat level.
He also added that the all possible help being extended to all States to contain this pandemic and medicines, equipment and healthcare workers are being sent to various parts of the country.
