New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) Patiala House Court Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Satish Kumar Arora, who recently had ordered death warrants against the four death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case has been transferred to the Supreme Court as Additional Registrar, sources said on Thursday.
As per letter of Registrar General, Delhi High Court, ASJ Arora has been transferred to Supreme Court as an Additional Registrar on deputation basis for one year.
On January 17, the ASJ Arora has issued fresh death warrants for February 1 against the four persons convicted in Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case after rejecting the mercy petition of one of the convicts by the President.
In this matter Vinay Sharma, Mukesh Kumar,Akshya Kumar and Pawan Gupta are convicted for gangrape with a medical student who was tortured and killed in December, 2012.
The ASJ earlier on January 7, has passed an order to issuance of death warrants against the four in the Nirbhaya case for January 22. Later, on January 17 a fresh death warrant issued for February 1.
Any plea in Nirbhaya case in trial court is likely to be assigned to the New Judge.
