Active militant, four others arrested in north Kashmir ahead of R-Day

Srinagar, Jan 23 (UNI) An active militant of Harkat-ul-Mujahdeen (HuM) and four others were arrested in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, a senior police officer said here today.
Describing it as a major success, the officer said the militants were planning to cause disturbance on or before the Republic Day function, particularly on Srinagar-Baramulla out.
He said acting on a specific information about the movement of militants Rashitriya Rifles (RR) and state police established a naka at Sangrama. During the operation a HuM militant Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi and four of his local associates were arrested. Arms and ammunition, including pistols and hand grenades were recovered from them.
