Achhe din' arrived & departed. 'New India' will do the same: Chidambaram on rising rail accidents

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Taking a jibe at the 'acche din' slogan by the Narendra Modi government, senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram, in a reference to increase in train accidents during the NDA rule, today said 'Acche din' had arrived and departed and nobody would have noticed. On a series of tweets, Mr Chidambaram said just like NDA slogan of 'acche din ', its talk of 'New India' was just a sham. 'Achhe din' arrived and departed. You may not have noticed. 'New India' will do the same!,' Mr Chidambaram said in a tweet. Referring to the recent derailment of the Utkal express, which left several dead, Mr Chidambaram wondered whether increase in rail accidents was the present government 's definition of 'acche din '. 'Train fares up 70 per cent, 27 major rail accidents, 259 deaths since May 2014. That is achhe din!,'Mr Chidambaram tweeted. Attacking the government on issue of rail safety, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said, 'Instead of commercially unviable bullet trains for the rich spend valuable resources to repair our tracks for safety of ordinary folk .
