Accused arrested in double murder case within 36 hours

Dumka, Feb 14 (UNI) Police have arrested one accused in connection with the brutal murder of a middle-aged woman and her six-year-old daughter near Veer Kunwar Singh Chowk under the Town Police Station area of Dumka district. The arrest was made within 36 hours of the crime, police said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference at his residential office on Friday evening, Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar said the bodies of an unidentified woman and her minor daughter were found near the Police Inspector’s office premises on the morning of February 11. The shocking incident had sent shockwaves across the town.
An FIR (Case No. 29/2026) was registered at Dumka Town Police Station under Section 103(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unknown persons, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the leadership of Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vijay Kumar Mahto to probe the case.
