ACB nabs MSEDCL Engineer on graft charges in Nashik

Nashik, Nov 22 (UNI) An Assistant Engineer of the State-run power company and his aide has been caught red-handed while accepting Rs 40,000 bribe from the complainant, informed the Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) here on Friday.
The accused official have been identified as Vikas Subhash Gaikawad, the Assistant Engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL)'s Housing Colony Branch in Malegaon here, ACB said.
The complainant alleged that the accused Vikas demanded Rs 50,000 bribe in lieu of reinstalling power meter at his powerloom.
Following negotiations, the accused Engineer settled to accept Rs 40,000 bribe, mentioned complainant.
Based on the allegation, a trap was laid today at the Old Agra Road and the aide Mohamad Ismail Mohamad Yonus was nabbed red-handed while accepting accepting Rs 40,000, ACB stated.
Subsequently, the accused Engineer was held, ACB added.
The falling of this Engineer into the ACB trap is third such episode in past two days; on November 21, the anti-corruption agency reported nabbing MSEDCL Engineer while accepting Rs 6,000 bribe in the Palghar district.
On November 22, a 32-year-old Junior Engineer of the State-run power company was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 50,000 bribe in the Raigadh district.
