About 200 passengers rescued to safer places on Kashmir highway

Srinagar, Nov 4 (UNI) About 200 passengers, including women, children and elderly persons, who got struck at different places on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway due to snowfall, were rescued to safer places, particularly to Banihal, official sources said on Sunday.
However, question is being raised if there was forecast for more snowfall on the highway, why the traffic was allowed that too in the afternoon.
They said the highway was closed on Saturday morning due to landslides at several places between Ramban and Ramsu, particularly at Sheerbibi. However, traffic was resumed in the afternoon after Border Roads Organisation (BRO) cleared the landslides by putting into service machines and men though shooting continued which were being removed immediately. Passenger and Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) from Srinagar to Jammu were allowed and no vehicle from opposite direction was allowed to move.
