AASU calls for mass hunger strike at Guwahati amidst curfew

Guwahati, Dec 12 (UNI) After hundreds defied curfew in Guwahati, Assam’s main city, to hold a protest meeting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, (CAB) at Latasil Field of the city at the call of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) today, the influential students’ body has called for a 10-mass hunger strike at Chandmari Field of the city tomorrow.
Students, artists, leading citizens and general people came out for the Latasil Field meet in response to a call given by AASU and popular singer-music composer Zubin Garg yesterday.
Though the meeting was called before the imposition of curfew last evening, the people defied the curfew and reached the venue in hordes.

All 15 candidates for two LS seats clear scrutiny

Itanagar, Mar 28 (UNI) Altogether, 168 nominations filed for the upcoming Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections were found to be valid after scrutiny of papers on Thursday, while the process of scrutinising nominations against Itanagar and Daporijo constituencies has been adjourned till Friday, the results of which would be out by 11 a.m., an election official said.

Probe into killing of two people in Meghalaya
