New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Friday said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is committed to provide preventive and curative health care services to the citizens of the national capital.
In his address to the Budget session of the Delhi Assembly, the LG said,”there are 36 multispeciality hospitals including six super speciality hospitals. In addition to this, 180 Allopathic dispensaries, 187 Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics and 25 polyclinincs are providing healthcare services to the citizens of Delhi.”
The LG said that the proposal of opening of 94 polyclinics after remodeling of existing dispensaries has been approved by the government in order to provide multispeciality health care facility throughout Delhi.
“To provide additional 10,000 beds in hospitals, the work of enhancement of bed capacity through construction of hospitals at Burari, Ambedkar Nagar and Dwarka is in progress,” he said.
The LG said that the government has taken number of initiatives to reduce the burden on the citizens for medical treatment.
“All essential drugs were being provided free of cost to patients attending public health centres of Delhi government. Free lab diagnostic and free radiological services to patients were available,” he said.
“Free surgery, for 52 kind of surgeries by 48 empanelled hospitals on referral by Delhi government hospitals are being provided to patients,” he said.
