AAP corners Badals for extending support to CAB

Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) legislators Kultar Singh Sandhawan and Jai Krishan Singh Rori cornered the Badals for extending support to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which had been passed by the Lok Sabha, saying that the Badal family had tarnished the image of the Akali Dal by using its office for their personal gains.
In a joint statement here on Wednesday, Sandhwan and Rori said “The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill violates Article 14 of the Constitution, which interprets that there is no mention of the religion-based citizenship accorded to the people. Even in countries like the US, Canada, citizenship or political asylum is not accorded on the basis of religion, instead of one's identity and political repression, but the Badals had extended support to the proposed Bill only to save and secure the Badal ‘bahu’s ministerial berth in the union government."
Sandhwan said that the Akali Dal, which came into existence on December 14, 1920, always took a firm stand against the oppression against the minority communities, always batted for greater authority to states, had been reduced to a corporate version under the suzerainty of Sukhbir Singh Badal, undermining the great ideals laid down by the founding fathers.
