Panaji, Oct 26 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa on Monday strongly opposed double-tracking of Southwestern Railway line in the state and asked the seven MLAs, whose constituencies are to be affected by the project, to declare their stand on the matter.
Addressing a press conference in the city, AAP spokespersons Sandesh Telekar and Venzy Viegas pointed out that Goans had, for some time, been opposing the double-tracking of the railway line which was actually aimed at only helping Adani transport coal from Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) to neighboring states of Karnataka and Maharashtra.
"It is indeed quite ironic that MLA Alina Saldanha has suddenly found her voice now to object to the project and has admitted that the double-tracking is only to transport coal. She remained merely a dumb spectator when she was the environment minister," Mr Telekar alleged.
