New Delhi, Feb 5 (UNI) Mouth-watering Awadh and Mughlai dishes from master ‘bavarchis’ of Lucknow and special cuisine of other states along with some special display of craftsmanship is awaiting Delhiites this month as the second edition of Hunar Haat is slated to be held here from February 11. One can relish the best from the 'bavarchi khana' that would be set up during the Hunar Haat where bavarchis (master cooks), who have inherited the art of cooking from their older generations, will be at work to give you sizzling kababs, tandoori chicken, delicious kormas and soft sheermals. To tickle your taste buds further, there would be Dal Bati Churma & Thali from Rajasthan, Sandesh & Rasogolla from West Bengal, Malabari food from Kerala and Litti Chokha from Bihar. Besides relishing the foods, visitors can also get to learn preparation of cuisines from 13 states by culinary experts. The venue will be the State Emporia Complex at Baba Kharak Singh Marg in Connaught place. Justifying its name "Hunar", the second "Hunar Haat" will prove to be an apt platform for the artisans & craftsmen of minority communities from 23 states of the country, to demonstrate and showcase their culinary skills and craftsmanship and in turn sell their produce in national and international markets. Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the theme this year was “Craft Aur Cuisine Ka Sangam”. He further said, 'Hunar Haat was aimed at encouraging, promoting and providing national and international market to artisans/craftsmen belonging to the Minority communities.' “Hunar Haat” is being organised through National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) under USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills & Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development) scheme of Ministry of Minority Affairs. 'More than 500 applications of artisans and culinary experts have been received covering 24 states. A total of 100 artisans and 30 culinary experts will participate at about 130 stalls in the second “Hunar Haat.The selected artisans include several awardees from five minority communities representing as many as 23 states. For the first time, the exhibition will see very exquisite pieces of Handicraft & Handloom work like Makrana Marble products, Bandhej from Sikar, Mojri from Rajasthan, Banjara Embroidery from Telangana, Handmade Locks & Door Handles along with Phool Patti works from Aligarh, Cocoon decorated products from Nagaland, Mizoram Traditional Crafts, among others being showcased and sold.
