A key conspirator in Delhi riots denied bail second time

Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) A local court in Delhi on Wednesday refused bail for the second time to Asif Iqbal Tanha charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or UAPA.
Accused's counsel argued that “the bare perusal of the chargesheet” will show that the applicant “has not indulged in any conduct amounting to any offence, let alone offence punishable under UAPA.
The Counsel said "The investigations, however, show that the accused is a member of Student Islamic Organization (SIO) and was in touch with SIO JMI unit via WhatsApp. He was aware of the conspiracy to march from Jamia Millia Islamia University to the Parliament to protest against CAA/NRC in December last year. Further, the applicant was instrumental in “setting up and running Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC) along with Umar Khalid--one the main accused who has recently been denied bail. Further investigation revealed, and was argued in the court, that he attended the ‘secret’ meetings of JCC “in pursuance of the common conspiracy and used to implement directions conveyed to him by one Nadeem Khan and Umar Khalid.”
