815 candidates in fray for ULB polls in Jammu district, 489 independents

Jammu, Sep 25 (UNI) As many as 815 candidates are in fray in Jammu district for the Urban Local Bodies elections to be held in four phases in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Today was the last day of filing nomination papers and in total 815 candidates are in fray for the ULB polls,” Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar here said. He said that out of total number candidates, 489 are independents, 306 representing national political parties and 20 regional parties.
Meanwhile from Jammu North, total 269 candidates have filed their nominations comprising 41 of BJP, 40 of Congress, 14 of JKNPP, two of NCP, three of LJP, five of Shiv Sena Balasahib Thackrey, one each from AAP, Hindustan Shakti Sena, Akhil Bhartiya Mahasabha and 161 independents.

Hyderabad, April 24 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a communication stipulating that every individual employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking, or establishment, eligible to vote in elections to the House of the People or the Legislative Assembly of a State, shall be granted a paid holiday under Section 135 B of the Representation of People Act.
