8 villagers held hostage by Naxals in Sukma forest in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Sept 20 (UNI) As many as eight villagers, including three kins of surrendered Naxal leader Podiami Panda and a deputy sarpanch, were reportedly held hostage by ultras in a forest in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said today.
While Panda's wife Muye, son Kosa and brother Raja were reportedly abducted from Naxal-stronghold Chitagufa on Friday last, deputy sarpanch Tirmani Sethia and four other villagers were taken hostage by armed rebels on the following day, the sources said.
Confirming abduction of the villagers, Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena today said that efforts were on to secure safe release of the hostages.
