Rajgarh, MP, May 2 (UNI) Eight members of a family – five girls, a boy and a couple of women – met a watery grave early Thursday in the reservoir of the Kundaliya Dam across the Kalisindh in the vicinity of Titri village, law enforcement authorities said.
The victims, who returned from a wedding on Wednesday, went to the river to wash clothes and bathe. Durgabai and her elder sister-in-law Radhabai were doing the washing on the riverbank when Sunil Meghwal began drowning. His mother Durgabai plunged into the water to rescue him but also started to go under. That resulted in a tragic chain reaction that also claimed the lives of Radhabai, Kiran, Kulabai, Raveena, Shivana and Nikanya. All the corpses were fished out barring that of Nikanya.
