77,8013 tonnes paddy procured in Punjab

Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) The Government agencies and private millers have procured more than 77,8013 tonnes of Paddy in Punjab till today evening.

Disclosing this here today, an official Spokesman of Punjab Government said out of total procurement of 778013 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 729195 tonnes of paddy (93.7%) till date whereas 48818 tonnes (6.3%) of paddy has been procured by millers.

Giving the details of paddy procured by Government agencies, Spokesman said that PUNGRAIN had procured 221860 tonnes (28.5%), MARKFED procured 173691 tonnes (22.3 %). PUNSUP procured 152128 tonnes (19.6%), PSWC procured 86901 tonnes (11.2%) and PAFC was able to procure 84525 tonnes (10.9%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 10090 tonnes (1.3%).

The spokesperson further added that District Faridkot with 101742 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Patiala with 101679 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Jalandhar with 73876 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
