67 test positive for Coronavirus, 3 die in UT since last 24 hrs

Puducherry, Jul 15 (UNI) As many as 67 persons tested positive for Coronavirus pandemic and three died in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours.

With new cases, the active cases in the UT has risen to 685.

According to the COVID-19 status released by the health department here on Wednesday, 57 new cases were reported in Puducherry region and 10 in Yanam region.

Of them, 34 persons were admitted to the government medical college, 5 in Jipmer,16 in Covid Care Centres (CCC), 10 in Yanam Government Hospital and two patients were transferred to Tamil Nadu.

As many as 60 persons were treated and discharged while two died in Jipmer and one Government Medical College in the last 24 hours.

About 32 patients were discharged from the government medical college, five from Jipmer, 16 from CCC and seven from Yanam Government Hospital.

Presently, 360 persons are being treated at the Government Medical College,131 in Jipmer,111 in CCC, 55 in Karaikal GGH, 27 in Yanam GH and one in Mahe GH.

So far 1595 persons were infected by the virus and of which 889 were treated and discharged, 21 died and 685 patients were being treated in hospitals.

Meanwhile, talking to news persons, Dr Sriramalu, Director Indian System of Medicines and Dr.G Ramesh, COVID Nodal officer said that a 76-year-old man from Muthialpet here died at the Government medical college last evening.

He was a diabetic and BP patient with prostate problems and was admitted to the hospital on July 13.

A 62-year-old woman with BP, Sugar and heart problems from Lawspet here was admitted to Jipmer on June 23 and she was put on ventilator as her condition was deteriorated. She died at 6.30 AM today while, a 75-year-old-man from Reddiyarpalayam also admitted to Jipmer with several problems on June 23 and who was also put on ventilator died at 5.30 AM this morning.

They advised old people to remain in home and to come out only on emergency situations.

They also said that two Siddha Doctors were deputed to COVID hospital here and added that Arsenic album tablets and ‘Kabhasura Kudineer’ will be distributed to the people to boost immunity.
