64.44 pc voters cast their votes as polling ends for first phase of elections in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 30 (UNI) A total of 64.44 percent out of an eligible 37.78 lakh voters turned
out to cast their franchise as voting came to an end on 13 seats of Jharkhand in the
first phase of the Vidhan Sabha Elections.
During the assembly elections which were held on these seats in the year 2014 the
average voter turn out was 63.29 thus the polling percentage in this year's election
has gone up by 1.15 percent. Among the 13 seats which went to the polls a maximum
voter turn out of 71.47 percent was reported in Lohardaga while the minimum was at
Chatra with 56.59 percent.
Constituency wise the polling percentage in these 13 segments was following: Chatra
56.59 percent, Gumla 67.3 percent, Bishunpur 69.8 percent, Lohardaga 71.47 percent,
Manika 62.66 percent, Latehar 67.2 percent, Panki 64.1 percent, Daltonganj 63.9 percent, Bishrampur 61.6 percent, Chattarpur 62.3 percent, Hussainabad 60.9 percent, Garhwa
66.04 percent and Bhawnathpur 67.34 percent.
Addressing a press conference State's Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey
said there was no major incident of law and order however some minor incidents of IED
blasts and scuffle between candidates have been reported.
He said at booth number 13 of Lohardaga at Middle School Kauwadanr there was report
of IED blast which took place late last night however it failed to make any damage to the
building.
Mr Choubey said all the members of the polling party and security personnel safely
reachedon the booth and conducted the polling process.
The CEO said there was another low intensity IED blast carried out near a bridge
connecting Ghaghra village with Hapad village under Bishunpur Police Station area
of the Gumla district inwhich there was no loss of life and property.
He said after the incident a company of Jharkhand Jaguar was immediately sent to
the areaand the polling concluded peacefully.
