6 painted storks die in Gwalior, 2 ducks in Deer Park, Hauz Khas

New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) Two ducks and six Painted Storks have died in The Deer Park, Hauz Khas and Gwalior Zoo, respectively during the last 24 hours.
Although there was no report of mortality of any type of bird from the National Zoological Park, Delhi during this period, said the Monitoring Committee, constituted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, to review the control and containment of the avian influenza situation in the city.
It said the steps taken to prevent mortality in birds included continued surveillance and regular screening of the zoo. Besides, bio-security measures were also being strictly enforced and the zoo remained closed for the safety of visitors and control of the disease.
