5 Test day 2: Jos Buttler's half century takes Eng to 304/8 at Lunch

London, Sept 8 (UNI) Jos Buttler half century 63 and Stuart Broad 36 helped England score 304/8 at Lunch on day 2 of final Test here at The Oval on Saturday.

Buttler 63 and Broad 36 were at the crease when Lunch was declared.

Buttler struck 63 off 104 with 6 fours and Broad also contributed a useful 36 off 51 hitting 3 fours.

Earlier on day 1, Alastair Cook fell short of a dream farewell century as India's bowlers came back to leave the hosts reeling on 198-7 at stumps on day one of the fifth and final test at The Oval on Friday.

Resuming with an overnight score of 197/7, England lost its first wicket on day 2 - Session 1 in form of Adil Rashid lbw in Bumrah's spell.

Rashid contributed 15 off 51 balls with 3 fours. Adil Rashid 15 (51) and Jose Buttler 12 (35) stiched 33 runs for their eighth wicket partnership. When Rashid fell to Bumrah England's score was 214/7.

In 108th over 2nd spell Buttler struck Sharma through square leg to four bringing up fifty partnership between Broad 22 (32) and Buttler 29 (32).

Buttler also went to surpass half century, fifth time he has passed 50 in a Test this summer after scoring 2 runs in Shammi's spell in 109th over's 3rd spell.

For India Bumrah was the lone wicket taker in form of Adil Rashid on day 2 of the first session.
