5 sports included in cash prize policy: Vij

Chandigarh, Sep 6 (UNI) Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij said on Thursday that five sports have been included in the cash prize policy and cash prize scheme has been started for sportspersons in youth, junior and sub-junior competitions, which would benefit the school and university players.
Mr Vij said that under Khelo India (School or University) tournament, Rs 50,000 would be given for winning gold medal, Rs 30,000 for silver medal and Rs 20,000 for bronze medal. Similarly in Deaflympics, the gold medallist would be given Rs 1.20 crore, silver medallist Rs 80 lakh, bronze medallist Rs 40 lakh and the participating player would get Rs 2.5 lakh.
He said that the gold medal winner in IBSA World Games and Special Olympics would get Rs 20 lakh, the silver medal winner would get Rs 15 lakh, bronze medallist would get Rs 10 lakh and the participating player would get Rs two lakh.
